The leading television comedian Mark Watson has been named  as the host for the 41st Lighting Design Awards 2017 presentations evening.

Watson – winner of the Time Out Critic’s Choice Award – appears regularly on TV and radio, as well as at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He is the winner of the  if.comeddie award Panel Prize and has been nominated for a Perrier Best Newcomer Award and a Barry Award in Australia.

Uniquely, Watson has performed a unusual series of marathon shows lasting 24 hours in both Edinburgh and Melbourne.

Watson joins architect Daniel Libeskind, DJ Afishal and house band Afternoon Delight on the bill.

Libeskind, the leading international figure in architecture and urban design, is the keynote speaker while internet sensation Afishal will be opening act of the ceremony.

The 40under40 list of talented lighting designers will also be revealed during the evening, which takes place at the prestigious London Hilton Park Lane on Thursday 4 May.

The official after-show party – complete with top bands – follows the presentation evening and continues to the early hours.
